Literary Response

Out Of My Mind

To start, with here are a few reasons why I think characters in ” Out Of My Mind” seem real to me.  For a start, I think Melody’s disability could happen to anybody. ”I can’t talk. I can’t walk or go to the bathroom. At this point Melody can’t communicate to people so now she has a Medi-talker to help her communicate to people and her family. ”Finally, finally, finally on Wednesday before Christmas, the Medi-talker arrives. I don’t need another present for Christmas.”  Afterward Melody can’t walk so she got to get an electric wheelchair so now she can basically move wherever she wants by herself. ” I did get a wheelchair.” ”I can’t go very fast, but I can propel myself down the hall with just a little lever on the handrail.”  Finnally, these are a few good ways I think characters in ”Out Of My Mind” seem realistic.

Sharon Draper’s Writing

Out of my Mind
I like Sharon how the author Sharon Draper wrote the book Out of my Mind. She creates imagery in my mind. “They’d see a girl with dark brown eyes that are full of curiosity.” She brings humor into her books. “So I did. I strained. I reached. I tried so hard, I farted!” She showed Melody’s emotion. “I can’t talk, I can’t talk, I can’t walk, I can’t even go to the bathroom. Big bummer.” These are a few reasons a few reasons why I like Sharon Draper.
